For those of you who are unfamiliar with User Research methods, Martin and Dani are in what’s called a usability lab watching a volunteer behind one-way glass. Typically the volunteer agrees to perform any number of individual tasks with the software. Their responses are recorded by the User Researcher (Dani) and any problems that arise during testing can hopefully be ironed out before an expensive software release.

Of course there are exceptions to that last rule, like the number of projects I’ve seen where user testing is performed AFTER the product launches.

Screams of terror are not often heard during user testing.
